“I urge you all to read this refreshing and inspirational book. Such determination it takes to go for your dreams and it goes to show that if you are 'hungry enough' and want your dream 'bad enough' you will continue to work away, strive and become smarter as a result. This book is a wonderful demonstration of passion and purpose being 'put' to life - to a life that everyone should try to emulate in some way.”
“Throughout this book I found myself eagerly looking forward to Preston's next achievement. It was obvious he was a talented student with a single minded determination to succeed in creating his perfect future. I'm inspired, envious, even a little jealous of his ability to turn every situation to his advantage, and to make it look so easy. Filled with humour, a little irreverence and a few nuggets of simple genius this is a must read, especially for anyone currently or intending to attend Uni.”
“Breaking the Chains is an intriguing and humorous story that shows the challenges most of us face when it comes to creating a better life. The principles outlined in the book, while targeted at uni students, do apply to people of any age so grab a copy, get reading and start implementing if you want to change your life. You'll love every second of this great read!”
“A witty and inspiring book - perfect for University students who want to learn what they don't teach you in school. It strikes a perfect balance between advice on how to make it big as well as very entertaining stories that will keep you hooked and wondering what will happen to Preston next. A perfect testament towards how hard work and good friends can help you achieve your dreams. 5/5.”
Funny, refreshing and perfect for all university/college students
“Picture this. You're sitting in your final year 12 meeting and the head of the school is telling you something about how to best use your potential and be the dentist, psychologist or lawyer that your mum and dad have always dreamt about and all you hear is, oh yeah, uni, sweet. So I get to be a poor bastard sipping goon out of a plastic cup for the next 4 years and then it will all be worth it. Because I'll just have to get that degree and then the money will stick to me like chewing gum on the least suspecting foot, right?! Well I was skeptical and that's because I've seen too many people waste those years at uni simply thinking it was the in-between period between school and money appearing magically afterwards. Doesn't happen ay. Well, this is the very mentality that Dean Munro challenges. Dean offers grounded and realistic insights into making your tertiary education more than the bullet point on the CV that it tends to be. You don't have to wait to finish uni to start making money. Quite the opposite, as Dean illuminatingly shows us, you might be in danger of developing a poor mentality of expecting something that will never come. Highly recommended reading for all uni students, especially those who might think it's not possible to earn a degree, party hard and earn money at the same time. The money is yours for the taking, and you can have your cake and eat the bastard too!”
“Well I have read your book and have come to the conclusion that its the best book I have read in a long time. I could not put it down, reading as much as I could where I could. My mum brought it for me for my big 40 bday. My parents live in Bendigo Maurice and Janice. Look I don't read a lot of books but yours was the first I just could not put down. Can't wait to read you next book.”
“This book taught me how important having a strong determination and a high ambition are even if there are a large number of difficulties in our lives. I had tended to lose my motivation to achieve my own goals and complained about my situation. However, after I read this wonderful book, I realized that I'm the only one who can create the brilliant future for me and the most important thing to do it is my strong mind. Thank you for giving me such a lot of incredible awareness, and encouraging me. I will achieve my own goals in the near future! Cheers!!”
“Adversity breeds fighters... A tough home life from a young age sees Preston become an adult before his time. His entrepreneur skills come to the fore and the rest is history. Hard work always pays off. Just like 'The Castle' hope this becomes a mini series or movie classic!”
“Breaking The Chains was exciting with a good story line based on real life events. Funny, witful and sexy. Also good tips and guidelines in achieving whatever you dream you can achieve, especially in regards to making it big, making money, investments. Once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down.”
Breaking The Chains is the most incredible book that I have ever read.
“I must say Breaking The Chains is the most incredible book that I have ever read. It is a decent size which covers bad and good part of the life. Moreover It always motivates me and inspires me not to give up no matter how worse the situation is. Lastly I would say this book is one of the greatest books I have purchased and it must be in our bookshelf. Thanks Regards Rohit”
“Peter (My husband) brought this home with him from Sydney. Have a look and let me know what you think he said. I picked up the book and began to read... no dinner or anything else for the family!!! I found reading compelling and enjoyed a very real story. Thank you for letting us in on your lifes journey. I felt very privileged that you let me into your life. We all need to be encouraged. We all need to be reminded of how wonderful we are. We need to be believed in and told that we are brave and smart and capable of accomplishing all the dreams that we dream and more. You are capable and brave and smart. Well done. Keep smiling and working hard. Kind regards, Maggie Gill”
“I started reading the book whilst my daughter was in hospital and could not put the book down. At one point I was laughing so much that the nurse asked me to be quiet - I loved the book. Kerry Donnellan - Castlemaine Victoria”
“Breaking the Chains is a hilarious and inspirational read, which captures some of the highs and lows of university and life in your early 20’s. I found myself laughing out loud at the often outrageous stories that I couldn't help relating to. Not only is this book humorously entertaining. The story of Preston's journey is an inspirational example of how any average kid can achieve success! It has also motivated myself to take action in investing and using my money wisely. Anyone who has an ounce of desire to be successful or financially stable should pick up Breaking the Chains. It’s easy to read and will give you a motivational kick start.”
“Reading really isn't my thing but when I got asked to read this book, I honestly could not put it down. The authors have done such a great job with the novel. I know how much time and effort went into this and it's just Great!!!! Congratulations Dean and Chris!”
“Im not sure if you recall but I was on the way home from uni with a couple of friends from central maybe 3-4 weeks ago when you approached us with the pitch for the book. I did not think of much at the time but I recalled it just today and purchased the book. I read it all day and it was probably the best $13 I have spent in a long time. The novel really did ground me on the realities of life and the great opportunities that exist and it has added a lot of value to me. Its very different to the motivational and self help books you pick up and read such as Rich Dad and Poor Dad or Think and Grow Rich. It is much more relevant and holds a very strong message and I have recommended it to a few of my friends. I thank you for what you have produced and I believe you stand for a great cause. I hope to one day bump into you at Central again and possibly gain some advice or insight. Kind Regards Tom Terado”
“Breaking The Chains is an intriguing and humorous story that conveys the challenges associated with creating a better life. If you are a university student then run, dont walk to go and buy this book! ”
Gary Ryan - Organisations That Matter
Youthful success despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles won through unconventional methods.
“Preston King is the ultimate Aussie battler struggling to stay afloat when it seems to him that everyone around him has been born with a silver spoon. Preston spends much of his time devising ways to gain the advantage he was not born with. At all times, Preston does not lose sight of his ultimate goal - becoming successful. Preston’s adventures and scrapes are side splittingly funny if you can handle the political incorrectness. He cuts corners and breaks the rules. He is opportunistic and unscrupulous at times with a savage undertone to his memoirs. This book is not intended to be a morally correct social commentary. It is however a very real expose of youth and the beginnings of young manhood.”
“Preston King struggled to rise above diversity and hit the ground running. What a great story, could not put the book down. May this book help many other young people to be successful. Well done to Dean and Chris. Hollywood here we come. Cheers Renee x ”
Couldnt put the book down, laughed all the way through it.
“Thoroughly enjoyed the read. Couldnt put the book down once I started and laughed all the way through. Preston King is a humble down to earth character who does not need sports cars and a flashy lifestyle to brag to others that he has made it. He quietly builds a small property portfolio proving that having a good work ethic, anyone who is persistent enough, can break the chains of adversity and come out a winner. ”
