Love of Books – Julie Mcgregor – $10,488.60 Court Order

Despite Breaking The Chains continuous momentum and success, many of our fans would not know the pain we endured before becoming published authors.

A large portion of this pain came from a publishing company called Love of Books. We engaged Love of Books in January 2013 and after an Authors’ worst nightmare for 21 months we finally won our legal battle in September 2014 against Love of Books and the Director Julie McGregor.

The experience wasn’t great. However, this story will make a great chapter in our next book!

Any chance you’d mind sharing your struggle with Julie. I’m dealing with her at the moment (wish I’d found your post before I started working with her!)

$1,215 down the drain even with a court decision in my favour.

AUTHORS BEWARE – Love of Books, Book Publishing Australia and Julie Marie Mcgregor.

I did eventually get my book published through an honest Publisher and website made to promote my book – http://carmeljoyce.com.au/

I am a PENSIONER and handed over $14,000.00 to this Thief! To this day I have no books and little money to live.

Sad Julie has no real love of books.
The passionate authors, artists, their friends and the reading audience
have all indulged her publishing foibles.
blame games directed at her employees, emotional calls
for support of her family life,
    a sympathy long used up
and it appears a failure to cough up $xxxxxx
    will surely disappoint
    the lovers of books

I seem to be on the same path as you. She has taken my money and not printed my book. Do you have any advice for me and how can we stop other people getting involved with any of her businesses

Thank you for this informative website. Love of Books defaulted on publishing my novel in 2014. I am currently trying to obtain royalties from Amazon.com for the paperback, which I presume they have retained. I would appreciate any advice concerning this, including an address.

That’s very unfortunate Martin. Despite Julie Mcgregor going bankrupt last year, she is still running Love of Books and ripping of innocent Authors frequently – http://loveofbooks.com.au/

    Hi Jon,

I would suggest to call A Current Affair, tell your story to the Newspapers and contact the ATO. I can’t believe Love of Books can keep stealing money like this!

Yes, if you hand over money to Love of Books or Book Publishing Australia it will end in frustration, stress and anger. The publishing process is very simple and dishonest self-publishing companies should be stopped.

Jon, we are in the same boat too. I have been producing a fundraising cook book for a school in Melbourne. One of our parents thought it would be good to get a cheaper publishing deal and signed us up with Julie instead of the reputable online fundraising publisher I had engaged. We have paid a hefty deposit and she wanted us to pay %50 up front. We are now likely to miss our deadline for pre christmas delivery. Devastating.

Julie McGregor stole $3,331.40 from me through her company Love of Books. I wrote a children’s book but the devastation and heartbreak this malicious woman caused me meant I never got my hard work published.

I sued her through QCAT and won. However, she refused to pay, avoided almost every Enforcement Hearing and then went Bankrupt when I had an Arrest Warrant issued for her.

In the Enforcement Hearings I even found out she is on the Dole / Centrelink!

Never use this company – Julie Mcgregor is a complete Crook.

    Hi Sheila,

Glad I could help out. I just believe the Author community needs to know about this highly dishonest and fraudulent company.

The Director Julie Marie Mcgregor is actually trading whilst Bankrupt and is running multiple publishing businesses such as Love of Books and Book Publishing Australia.

    Thank you,

    Dean Munro

Finally, the truth comes out! I also am a victim of this evil woman and her tricks. She owes me $4,950.00 for a book that was never even started let alone published. She lied and cheated through every stage of the process and even promised to pay in the end… all to no avail. Keep the posts coming everybody and most importantly TELL YOUR FRIENDS TELL EVERYBODY YOU CAN. We must stop he.
